Dr. Christopher Sortman
Dr. Christopher Sortman is a University of Michigan Dental School graduate.
He also attended Hope College, where he earned a B.S. in Biology prior to studying at Dental School.
Following dental school, as Lieutenant Sortman, he served as a Navy dentist with the Marines in Okinawa.
While there, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD).
The AEGD gave him shoulder to shoulder experience with specialists in every field of dentistry.
This experience was a springboard to his interest in sharing his love for dentistry with others.
He started the Dental Assisting School to teach others and communicate his passion for the dental profession
and the importance in providing ‘comprehensive’ dentistry to members of the community.
On a personal note, Dr Sortman is married to his college sweetheart, Holly. They have four children; Spencer, Saige, Piper and Orly. He enjoys spending time with family, pursuing interests varying topics, and most of all helping others to become the best they can be!
Amanda McDaniel, Lead Instructor & Director
Mrs. McDaniel graduated with honors from Lake Michigan College. She is continuing her education to earn her Bachelor’s Degree at Grand Valley State University where she will major in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in leadership and a minor in history. She has thirteen years of experience as a Registered Dental Assistant and is currently still working as an assistant for Dr. Sortman. Mrs. McDaniel is the lead instructor and director of the Dental Assistant School of Grand Rapids Area.
Her hobbies include spending time with her family, working out, bike riding, fishing, reading, and working as a dental assistant.
Angela Bezotte, Externship Coordinator
Mrs. Bezotte is a Registered Dental Assistant and has been in the dental field for 10 years. She graduated from Northwestern Michigan College located in Traverse City in 2005 and has worked in many areas of the dental field including management of a large group practice. She has experience in many areas of the office including insurance coordinating and appointment scheduling. Outside of the office Mrs. Bezotte is a mother of two wonderful boys that keep her busy with sports. She also loves hiking, kayaking, and reading. Angela likes to volunteer within her community when she can and she absolutely loves her career as a dental assistant.
